Fi Khuta Sayyid
(In the Footsteps of The Master) has two main parts. The first part, pages 1-72, is very similar in its approach to the book The Purpose Driven Life. It is based on 1John 2:12-14 the Little Children, the Young Men and the Fathers.
The little children signifying the young believers, the young men signifying the disciples and the fathers signifying those with paternal and maternal hearts that care for the young believers and want to disciple them.

The book is written in user friendly language to the young believer from Muslim background.

The second part, pages 73-126, is a manual for study and for practical applications.

The book can be used by one individual. Or it can be used by a new believer along with the person discipling him/her. Or it could be used in a small group. Part of the time will be spent in reading and discussing a chapter or part of a chapter in the first section. The rest of the time could be spent in sharing what they have written in the second section in the book: e.g. sharing from their Quiet Time, checking and sharing about verses that they have memorized and praying together.

Part l

Chapter 1. "A New Creation". It helps the reader understand what is involved when a person has a genuine encounter with Christ. It also helps the reader identify where he/she is on the road to salvation.

Chapter 2. "The plan of salvation." What is God's role? What is my role? Basis of assurances such as God's promises, the witness of the Holy Spirit to my spirit. Are our feelings to be trusted?

Chapter 3. "The Old Land Lord". This chapter deals with how the devil attacks the young believer. The chapter uses an analogy of an evil old land lord (the devil) Vs the New Landlord (Jesus Christ) who bought that condo (the life of the new believer) and paid all the debts. The issue in that chapter is who to listen to, the evil old land lord or the New Land Lord. The doubts and assurances that are dealt with in this chapter are: Assurance of eternal life, assurance of victory, assurance of forgiveness, assurance of God's love and His care.

Chapter 4. "Congratulations". This chapter gets into an overview of the letter to Ephesus. Ephesians 1-3 speak about our position in Christ. Ephesians 4,5 and 6:1-9 speak about how the believer should live because of who he/she is. Ephesians 6:10-24 How to stand and not retreat from our position in Christ. God is Abba (Father) and He has adopted me. In addition to that I have become a member of a Great Family, the family of God.

Chapter 5. "The Seven Essentials for Growth". Seven physical essentials of a baby are compared to seven spiritual essentials for the young believer.

  1. Breathing (exhale and inhale) = prayer and communion with God. Asking for forgiveness and trusting Him and depending on Him.

  2. Food = the word of God with practical suggestions.

  3. Protection from infections = Protection from attacks of the devil in the following areas: doubts, despair, divisiveness and rebellion.

  4. Sleep = Rest in God and casting our cares on Him.

  5. Dealing with disease quickly = How to deal with sin and how to break bad habits.

  6. Exercise and movement = Acknowledging Christ to others along with a living proof of a transformation. Witness by life and words.

  7. Parents keeping their baby clean and changing his/her diapers = A spiritual father or mother who care for the young believer and love him/her even when he/she messes up.

Chapter 6. "Decisive Decisions". This chapter deals with the need of the young believer (little child) to move more and more in the direction of becoming a disciple of Christ (Young men in 1 John 2:12-14).

The decisions that need to be made as that believer responds to God's love are:

  1. Full surrender to Christ. A paradigm shift from being the center of the universe to realizing that Christ is the Center and that we need to revolve around Him.

  2. Full surrender and deep realization of the truth and sufficiency of the Scriptures for the whole of life. What does that mean and what are the practical implications.

  3. Full surrender and deep realization of the need to belong to the Body of Christ. What does that mean and what are the practical implications.

Chapter 7. "Conclusion". This short chapter deals with the need for steady growth that needs perseverance.
